Shounen is limited by its target audience, you can't discuss deep or complex ideas when your target is a low-attention span child, who won't give you the time of day to rope them into conversations and thoughts they'll carry with them through their life.
Seinen has the opposite problem, where it gets preachy exactly because its target audience is older.
