Tumblr is the one associating tomboy with dykes, lesbians, etc when it have nothing to do with it. A tomboy can wear masculine or feminine clothes but this have nothing to do with her sexuality. It can be done to show that she cares more about the practical side than fashion or that she just adopts similar styles of boys due to being around them. It is similar to the messy hair genius, it is common to represent a genius with a messy hair but a genius don’t need to have a messy hair nor a person with a messy hair is a genius.
