Make him face real consequences that makes him question whether it's right to keep being an arrogant dumbass when the stakes are so high.

deconstruct him like togashi deconstructed gon masterfully in CA which easily made gon the best shounen mc. also dial back on the over the top retardation. gon is a happy go lucky childish moron sometimes but only sometimes, and it's because he's actually a kid. luffy is 17-19 but just acts like a 5 year old dumbass the entire time. it's why gon is an actually entertaining character that doesn't get on your fucking nerves like luffy does after a few chapters. would it kill oda to give his characters subtlety and depth.

Idk Oda wrote himself into a corner with Kaido. None of it makes sense anymore, it didn't even look like Kaido was damaged much until Luffy became the Sun God.
