Fujoshis claim this has great lgbt representation

>fujoshis claim this has great lgbt representation
>every fully gay guy is a rapist pedophile who just wants to rape Ash
>the "romance" is the most ambiguous shit on earth and the two guys are functionally straight with the only exception being each other
The literal love letter Eiji wrote to Ash keeps saying "friend" and not lover, their friendship is no more fruity than any other male friendship in anime

for the record I don't give a shit about lgbt representation, I just think it's funny to point out

>every fully gay guy is a rapist pedophile
wait, a work of fiction finally got it right?

I swear to God this joke never gets old just like Ash

>Banana Fish
I honestly started having flashbacks to that one other show where it's about the journalist girl who meets the white-haired Middle Eastern assassin who's literally a female version of Setsuna F. Seiei.

it's YaoiBait

I actually agree with the fujoshis' claim. I think both intentionally put up boundaries (because Ash had been sexually abused for most of his life) which IMO made the love story that much deeper. Eg. there's a scene where Ash boasts about having blond pubic hair (but then coyly refuses to show Eiji when he asks.) There's another scene where Eiji drags Ash into the shower and undresses him except for his underpants (saying "you have to take them off by yourself.") I'm pretty sure the mangaka herself said if they'd been able to stay together, they would have inevitably become lovers. They're like a gay Romeo and Juliet. IMO Banana Fish is at least as gay as Brokeback Mountain.

>every fully gay guy is a rapist pedophile who just wants to rape Ash
fug.... lmao

If anything this has a lot of prejudice.

Good animation but the plot was too slow and boring and WAY WAY TOO GAY.

Also main character is a non-character. Actually all characters are bland NPCs.

I didnt expect so many rape in this thing

>main character is a non-character.
Eiji? He has his moments honestly, but if anything he's infuriating. He's meant as a self-interest for aimless jap teens though.
Now Ash, that's a character.

I was relieved Eiji made it to the end without getting raped.

I remember there being a BF tour thing japan set up and they got to visit the library where Ash died and fujos kept leaving flowers on his seat at the library.

Eh I read it more for the novelty of seeing a shojo/josei artist try making an crime thriller. Surprisingly decent at least until near the end where Ash was revealed to be some sort of super soldier tactical genius trained by the best of the best instead of a scrappy lucky motherfucker makes me wonder if she was already forming Yasha around that time

Reminds me of those Titanic fans visiting the J Dawson grave in Nova Scotia. Also BF-themed coffee shops were a thing for a while. Those fujos must be quite cashed up.

Never underestimate the financial power of weird people user
There's this korean surgeon, one of the best in his country, and he spends thousands on gay falco porn

if you think about it, the series seemed more like anti-LGBT
only the antagonists were gay, and their plan foiled every time only because someone on their side got so horny for some Ash boypussy, creating a opening for Ash to exploit

are the fights/animation cool tho

It's a manga from the 80s and 90s. Would really like to see some examples of the claim of "fujoshis claim this has great lgbt representation", because I feel like fujos wouldn't care, they just like BL.
People who possibly do care could fall into either camp, those who think that it's bigoted, or those who only see the surface and go "gay people represented"
Not enough to justify watching it unless you think you'd really be into this type of stuff. There was also no reason to modernise the setting and it was lame
