It should have just stuck with the premise of being a love triangle and all those unnecessary characters such as Karen, Ayane, Kei, Ikoma, Makoto, and Honoka should have just been background characters. Them having entire chapters and story arcs is bullshit and took the focus away from Ui and Rin.
