My pick

is Gundam Seed even that good

>opinions
Is anything? I liked the first half of Seed, but Destiny was, to me, kind of shitty.

>is Gundam Seed even that good
It's a very entertaining earnest trainwreck. The best part is watching the series frame absolute pieces of shit as sympathetic characters.

Sennen Joyuu by Satoshi Kon. Everything else is literally amateurish in comparison.

No wonder moot made /m/

casshern sins

Probably Haibane Renmei. But there are other contenders as well like Planetes, Full Moon, GitS: SAC, Millennium Actress etc. Casualfags will tell you Code Geass or Haruhi or some other mainstream shit.

Why is it whenever this discussion comes up, the 2000s has the widest array of answers? For the 90s, people usually say Eva or Bebop. For 10s, it's the usual Madoka/S;G/HxH console war shit, plus AoT. But for the 00s, I've seen at least 15 different shows get mentioned in fair amounts. I wonder why that is?

I say it counts

Most of the board is populated by 20-somethings who were in their formative years during the 2000s.

TTGL.

GTO is my favorite anime.

What kind of retards are you asking?
People who only watched the 10 most popular anime of the decade?

>Gankutsuou
I was about to question your other picks, but you've proved yourself a patrician with this one.

massive expansion of available titles but still stuck in a physical media paradigm. in the 90's licensing and distributing an anime in the west took considerable investment so companies carefully chose titles, whereas now everything is available instantly and for free if you're of that mindset. in the 00's torrenting was still niche and streaming in its absolute infancy

Because people realised that all the popular titles of 00s were shit.

For me its FLCL. Absolute masterpiece

90s have a lot of favorites as well. Just among films you have Porco Rosso, Ninja Scroll, Gits, Patlabor 2, End of Evangelion, Memories..ect

And in tv shows you have Yu Yu hakusho, Kenshin, DBz, Bebop, Lain, Sailo Moon, G Gundam, Gundam Wing, Karekano, Slam Dunk, Oniisama e, Rayearth, Cadcaptor Sakura, Utena, Trugun, Case Closed, Outlaw Star, Gaogaigar, Slayers, Nadia.
Also you have OvAs like Black Jack, 08th Ms team, Logh, Golden Boy,Giant robo, Getter Robo

it never ceases to surprise me how unwatched Gankutsuou is. Used to be most people had heard of it but probably never watched it but now most people have just never heard of it. It's not the most amazing reworking of the Count of Monte ever but it is a reworking of it. Which means it retells one of the greatest novels ever written and with some of the most interesting visuals ever done in anime. It's beyond shameful how few people take the time to watch the "classic" amazing animes.
