Don't think about the past, just fight big robots.

It was all a simulation, and Angel was in charge. She was reseting everything over and over, which is why no one could remember what happened. In the last episode, she is about to reset things again while Roger is trying to negotiate with her. She finally decides to reset things to how they should be instead of what she wants, which is why you see her and Dorothy look slightly different at the end.
At least that is how I interpreted it.

What about farmer Rosewater that seemingly knew all of that? How exactly would he fit into that? He appears unaffected by the resets.

My wife Dorothy

i want o fuck that toaster

It's basically just newgame+, angel used her/venus' power to reset the stage of paradigm to undo all the damage that was done. Her, dorothy and roger are still who they are but they very likely have no recollection of the past cycle of paradigm. The official website seems to state that venus has the ability to erase matter that it comes into contact with also.

>evangelion-tier ending
No such thing.

Would have been fine as a single season.

Best sax music in all of anime.

It technically is, show was meant to be 26 episodes from the start. Adult swim just paid for the last 13 episodes that didn't get to be made in japan when the anime was cancelled on it's original run.

i meant with respect to all of the random world-ending fuckery

I gotchu. There's plenty other anime that did it first that's all.

It's not world ending, it's just a repetitive cycle of resetting the stage. Then again you can kind of argue that eva does the same thing but like other user said other anime have done it too.

I know that they planned all 26 episodes at the start but I gotta be honest, the twists at the end give me the feeling that they weren't there originally, or at least that they were not related to Angel in particular. A more generic twist would probably have worked better imo, we already had some open stuff like Roger's flashback of his mother.

A lot of the stuff in the later half of the first 13 episodes point towards a lot of what ends up happening in the last 13. It could be nothing more than red herrings that the writers turned into a full on plotline for the last 13 episodes.

>A lot of the stuff in the later half of the first 13 episodes point towards a lot of what ends up happening in the last 13
Yeah, but are there any that point towards the resets/simulation plot? There certainly are some things from the first part that get explored later (Foreigners, Roger's memories, other big type megadeus), my problem is just with the big spoiler.

Gordon rosewater states none of it is real which directly imply it's a fabricated reality like what we see in the ending.

Dorothy was hinted to be human in the original epilogue which was a repeat of their first meeting until adultswim asked them to do whatever we got. Also they had outlines for 26 additional episodes.

That's not what the original script for the ending was implying. It was just a more straight forward version of the ending, angel resets to the very first episodes but she "rewrote" some of it, she is no long a mysterious woman after roger and works under roger as an assistant, roger and dorothy end up still retaining their memories and it ends on them recognizing each other and reuniting.
