Erwin was an idiot whose every plan was to charge the enemy even if there are plenty of better tactics to pull. And Armin barely did anything post time skip and his whole deal of potentially becoming the villain went to Eren, despite there being no set-up for it.
You can write both out of the story and nothing changes.
