There it mostly says it's uncommon, people do remove their shoes and put on slippers, but that's mostly comfort, and not necessarily has to happen at the entrance. Maybe the owner does it that way but almost never a guest is expected to remove their shoes.
There are some people that build their houses that way and request people to remove their shoes, but that's wildly uncommon.
Real shame but that's how it is.
