I love that little scene where they are in Knov's zone debating why did Pitou wasn't using her en, they all make reasonable arguments but they are full of mistakes, and the only reason we know that they are making mistakes is because we have the readers POV

Smartness is just speed at learning new things plus great memory, so you can write a character smarter than you. You have weeks to work out how this smart character will solve something in minutes inside of the fiction, and you can prepare the knowledge the character has ahead of time.
