If there's to be any explanation to fantasy monsters being vastly superior to their IRL beast counterparts, it's the composition and density of their tissue. Perhaps in dragon a simple carbon in bones and muscles is naturally replaced with graphene or similar metamaterial.

Given that, their meat would taste like ass. Unless of course the source of monster power is magic.

/m/ is dead that's what

sounds average and normal for adaptations until last year

Does anyone still care about mecha? It seems dead even outside of anime.

like chicken.

Like cyberpunk, it needs to either double-down on ultraviolence like Mellow Link and Cyber City Oedo in a 80's retrowave aesthetic (targeting nostalgia) or to evolve into futuristic shit that actually makes sense to a 2022 human youtube.com/watch?v=AnwR2XF_Lsk

isn't most mecha shit already ultra edgy shit

What mecha we're talking about? Old mecha visually doesn't stand up to modern standards of production quality, after jap economic bubble in 80-90's nobody had money left to produce quality drawn mecha anymore and it turned into 3dcg shit like code geass which while had it's own value, didn't hold the candle even to rotorscoped Patlabor

So, the old mecha has essence of edgy ultra violence to be popular, but doesn't have the visuals
modern mecha has neither the essence nor visuals
We're living in talking heads, the anime era when most anime frames are stills with only mouths opening and closing, drawing beautiful mecha is expensive and not viable

>muh ovas
>doesn't mention the subpar animation
Bet you don't even watch kyoukai senki aka 2d well dine mecha animation.

>old mecha visuals aren't up to modern standards of [action] media
Did I stutter?

do you realize how dogshit the standards of modern action media are? remove the camera moving around like a schizo and it's mostly still images with cgi effects up the anus
at least mecha has the advantage of not looking completely terrible when animated by cgi

actually I don't, because I mostly read weeb shit nowadays
I'm just sharing my personal opinion: I liked Votoms and Patlabor, FMP was okay but everything after it was dogshit because of cheap 3DCG

Giving up on adaptations altogether and sticking to reading is likely not even rare here.

English is not my first language so at least I am exercising SOME brain cells when reading weeb shit translated to english, doubly so when I try to MTL shit and try to translate suspicious parts by ear through TTS. Take Shield Hero S3 for example, it's flowing so blandly and predictably in form of anime I can't stand to watch it. It's like saturday show for kids now: there's no substance to engage with SOPHISTICATED VIEWER at all. I understand the irony of demanding sophistication from isekai on Any Forums, but that's just how I feel about adaptations: they tend to ponder to lowest common denominator and that includes really young kids that would be target of merch sales of big franchise (hello Star Wars) and they suck to consoom when you're literally ojiisan.

It's less off-putting when you read original work instead of adaptation: there's always more details and it engages your imagination more versus being served visuals and audio ready on the platter.

Does my rant make any sense?

have you ever talked to burgers for longer than Any Forums posts? reading any book in their native language is already an order of magnitude more effort and brain cells than they are willing to use

>6 months since volume 12
How long does he expect us to wait

>I understand the irony of demanding sophistication from isekai on Any Forums
Your first mistake is falling into the normalfag trap of thinking in their terms, now you are doing the abused housewife routine to justify a hobby.
Also there's no rule that says Any Forums has to be about shitposts, that's exactly the mentality that perpetuates such thing happening, you can have as "sophisticated" of a discussion as you may want to, at the end of the day Any Forums is just a communication medium like any other.
But back to the point, yes, adaptations do tend to be curated and remove parts that may be unappealing for a larger number of people, and this tends to be done in order to sell more.
As far as I know there's some laws involved as well, but the things removed due to not being able to show that on TV are far less than the ones removed simply because they are "too weeb" and/or "too boring", despite a lot of people reading the original versions of such things exactly for those "weeb" and/or "boring" things.
Yes, your rant makes sense, I have seen a lot of people here complain about similar things as well and I do agree.

objectively, there are more sophisticated books that I ought to be reading
nevermind that, I could even spend time and pick better isekai to read
but I am not doing that because I'm lazy to a point of consuming average quality content versus spending time to look for better quality one
so I am pretty sure that demanding sophistication from isekai I consoom is still ironic

>laws
like adding boobs to romantic interest lolis?
>too weeb
>too boring
like game mechanics autism? god I'd hate for slave harem adaptation to remove that

>/m/ is dead
Thanks Duel Gundam2099

Gundam is keeping mecha alive, like Precure is keeping Magical Girls alive, but it's not in a good place.

>objectively, there are more sophisticated books that I ought to be reading
You say that until you actually start reading it, a lot of "timeless classics" are borderline shitposts with grandiose prose, not like there's anything wrong with that mind you, they can be good reads as well.
>nevermind that, I could even spend time and pick better isekai to read
"Better" is subjective and the only valid metric metric is (You) and only when applying it to yourself.
>but I am not doing that because I'm lazy to a point of consuming average quality content versus spending time to look for better quality one
>so I am pretty sure that demanding sophistication from isekai I consoom is still ironic
At some point a lot of people start doing that, the only difference is they likely drop whatever doesn't appeal to them, for some reason some don't, forever trapping themselves in a hell of media they don't enjoy and will never escape from.
Beauty and quality is on the eyes of the beholder and it boils down to how "seriously" and/or "immersed" do you take whatever you consume, it just so happens a lot of people find it way easier to get immersed and take seriously something "sophisticated" that is srs bsns no fun allowed with nothing "immature" to take them out of the experience.
However there are some weirdos that get just as immersed reading isekai smartphone or whatever than they would when reading shakespeare, and believe it or not objectively speaking that's just as valid as the alternative, because again, beauty and quality is on the eyes of the beholder.
Yet for some reason this really angers people using consuming "sophisticated" media as a symbol of status and superiority rather than for the experience, I wonder why.
