Otherside Picnic

Is this the most botched adaptation in recent memory? Both novel and manga are great yet anime fucked up everything.

My sister has the exact same opinion
We only watch the anime to see what they fucked up
Removing all inner thoughts really harmed a ton

To be fair nobody had any expectations for Muv-Luv anime.

Ive only seen the anime and thought it was fine, the start was kinda rough but later on it was fun yuri adventures in yokai land
also kicking op

Read the manga it's 10 times better.

user, why does your sister want to watch an anime about two girls who use supernatural phenomena and landscapes as an excuse to do lesbian things?

The anime was "fine".
This is the sort of thing that benefits immensely having sound and more elaborate visuals.
So even if it was rough in adaptation it was quite alright.

Either that or pic related

Read the novels, all are translated.
It made me check out manga and novels, so it did it's job. Without it it's take me much longer to notice the series.

I think it was fine as promotional material, but the anime fucked basic shit up when it changed the order of events for no reason and added fillers episodes that could have been used to better pace some of the rushed episodes.

The music was good though, but the animation wasn't good enough, monster designs were also too tame compared to the manga or what they were supposed to be.

like I said, sound is all that matters and it's one thing to talk about the blue and another to SEE it.

It's not all that matter, but I don't disagree that it did well in that area, it did got a lot of people interested in the source material after all.

Is Ex-Arm still considered recent?

it should have highlighted the good things of the source material while taming the bad things. it failed completely at that.

No. Just no. It was nowhere near fine.

this and that military magical girl show really just needed a lot more budget. I don't get why action heavy stuff keeps getting fucked like this.

Infinite Dendrogram feels like a satire of MMO fiction at points, and is also a super-chuuni story with elements along the lines of JoJo, Fate/stay night and Worm.

The anime cut out all the humour and all the exposition, just turning it into an ultra-generic MMO series that took itself too seriously. And then they went and aired it in the same season as Bofuri (which *is* a generic MMO series, but does a decent job of it) just to make it look even worse.

Talking about adaptations, Hanebado fucked very hard, the first part of the manga was very light in tone, almost a gag manga, that eventually becomed a sometimes hilariously heavy drama manga, the anime tried to be consistent in tone but made every character very unlikable because of it.

I liked it.

It still has some core parts of the manga, but if you ever read the manga you will understand why it's a mess, the MC deserves to be shot down in the anime.

The mangaka approved the changes in that
