Has anybody actually seen this show? I only know it from the screencaps circulating on Any Forums

I watched it back in the day, shockingly enough its not very good. It's got the problem that many otome game adaptions have where they don't really want to just commit to one of the in-game routes so they just shove the girl around to a different guy per scene, though with Ayato being the poster boy for the original game it makes sense that she's with him the most.

Only enjoyable parts are when Yuki Kaji goes full screaming schizo as Kanato + at the tail end of the series when Yui gets possessed by the evil mom vampire and acts all confident and mature.

Ive always wanted to read shu route since from what ive heard about it hes the closest thing to a non-schizo vanilla route

It's boring because of that and most of his route is just him and the heroine fucking but never showing any of it.

Yeah, he's definitely the most normal out the cast and even in his own route basically just wants Yui to fuck off to somewhere else since she'll at least be safe from them that way, though obviously he still gets his own fair share of bullying scenes (though its mostly just verbal since he's a giant tsundere)

If I recall correctly he even gives her a silver knife or something in case she ever decides that she wants/needs to kill him.

This, most of the appeal of the DL series is how degenerate and/or insane all the guys are, Shu being the 'normal' one isn't exactly a point in his favour, its more fun to go through the absurdity of the other guys.

I used to bu the memes that it was terrible from the screencaps and unintentional comedy.
It's actually both super hot, and has a better plot than 90% of romance, and 99% of harem.

The plot of the second season is nonexistent though but the first season is actually full of mystery, flashbacks and stuff that finally reveal themselves into some kind of grand master plan ending with backstabbing and surprises.

This is what makes it better than the source, wherein one selects one partner at the start and it feels like the others barely exist and one never encounters them anywhere.
The t.v. series actually feels as though Yui be held captive by a gang of mean vampires.

I watched it, it was okay for its genre
I really like the main girl design, usually all otome MC girls look great. Like the girl from Amnesia

Laitto is the best because he's a cuck.
He's clearly getting turned on by Yui being bitten by others toon.
Also, he goes for the legs, uses both boku and kimi, has the best voice, best hair, and the best hat and he calls you a little slut.

Amnesia Character Designs are something else.
>Why yes, I do go out on the street every day in the exact same cosplay-tier outfit with my 40 belts, raffled skirt, asymmetric thigh-high boots and visual kei haircut.
Why is there a belt hanging from his skirt?

> wherein one selects one partner at the start and it feels like the others barely exist

Depends on the route, often times other characters will barge in for the sake of having jealousy scenes, but honestly I prefer the route formula, at least them you've got a decent handle on what's going on, having Yui be shoved around all the time just gets kind of annoying to watch, none of the guys really have their time to shine/escalate their own side plots.

You make a persuasive argument, user.

I love how Toma is the only one whose dressed even remotely like a normal person considering his character type. Though yeah, Amnesia is notoriously horrible.

At least Shin and Ikki look somewhat passable from the waist up though, which is mostly how you see them in the game.

I'd like him more if he used 'bitch chan' less, I know that's his gimmick nickname but the stupidity of it always yanks me out of the scene.

It's like Kou with his stupid "m-neko chan' shit.

Post the full thing next time, faggot.

But Yui beng shoved around makes it feel more like Yui's actually being held captive.
The television series didn't actually feel like a romance, more like being held captive and being mistreated by 6 hot vampires.
It felt like Yui had no agency, was dragged around, and couldn't do anything, much as in pic related, which is kind of the point.

The problem with the original is that these characters supposedly exist and live there, but they really just exist for the player to pick one and then forget about the others.

> Yui's actually being held captive.
I mean that's basically always the feeling even with normal routes, any time she tries to leave or call someone for help/answers she usually gets forced back/her phone broken every time, its especially apparent in Laito's route.

Again, just comes across as unfocused and annoying to me when the adaption can't just stick with someone for more than five minutes without pushing Yui on to the next scene with the next guy.

> these characters supposedly exist and live there
It's a big ass mansion and the cast canonically just don't really get along/hang out much anyway, and once Yui picks a guy to be her wrangler the others mostly just get bored with the situation and understandably fuck off back to their own quadrant of the mansion for the most part.

I like Kent outfit, would like to have it
Very cool

I always find the designs for Amnesia are charming, but never got the time to watch anime or play the game. How was it?

how can i play the game? i love otome reverse harem

Why is it stupid?
I like it. I wouldn't mind being called that.

Anime was meh and cheap looking, the game is alright, its got that charming quality like you say, even if aspects of it are pretty dated/stereotypical by now.

Main issue for me is that the female lead is extremely boring, she may as well be a cardboard cut-out, it makes sense to some degree since obviously she does have amnesia for a large part of the game, but even when she gets her memories back she doesn't really change much at all, you could be forgiven for thinking she didn't remember anything at all and was just pretending to the whole time.

Learn moon runes/look up a translation guide and buy it on the switch/play it on a psp emulator, since none of the games are in english.

>I mean that's basically always the feeling even with normal routes, any time she tries to leave or call someone for help/answers she usually gets forced back/her phone broken every time, its especially apparent in Laito's route.
Being held captive by one person feels very different than by an entire group that shuffle one around with no agency in the matter.
Laito's route to me felt more like walking around the house and continuing to bump into him.
The television series felt like being dragged around from mistreatment to misreatment. Almost as in everyone's plaything where they actually each have a torture schedule assigned to them and he's dragged from room to room to be tortured by them and there's nothing he can do.

>It's a big ass mansion and the cast canonically just don't really get along/hang out much anyway, and once Yui picks a guy to be her wrangler the others mostly just get bored with the situation and understandably fuck off back to their own quadrant of the mansion for the most part.
Which doesn't make sense when they were fighting in the prolog.
Treating Yui as some kind of public property of the mansion to all do with as they please rather than somehow respecting Yui's wishes to be with one vampire makes more sense to me.

The plot felt more focused to me; the source felt like disconnected sketches where Yui just runs into Laito at random places with little continnuity.

It's no even that they're all Visual Kei artists in how they look; it's that they all wear the exact same outfit every single time.
The game had a good plot from the start but the problem is that the protagonist never talks.
Yui talks but has no voice actor. The protagonist here simply says nothing, but is constantly talked to, so the dialog feels like everyone is talking to a brick wall that says nothing back.

Television series felt a bit disconnected: it's just two episodes of the protagonist in different realities with a love interest and little actual plot.

I also hate how the protagonist has no name, so the dialog in the television series is a bit unnatural since Japanese really relies on knowing people's names or titles to talk with them and saying “you” all of the time sounds unnatural. In the game, one can pick the character's name and it does show up in the dialog bu the voice actors reading it simply skip it, or replace it with words for “you” but one can at least imagine that that the text is what they actually say.

They aren't actually usually harems.
One picks one of the love interests and the other soften disappear from sight.
That picture is how it should be though and that doesn't even happen in the D.B. television series much.
Fuck harem, I want gangbangs. That picture is hot.
D.L. has an English patch, but I played it in Japanese.
