it is my favorite anime of all time, but it's not the best, especially considering how it butchered the story of the manga in the latter half

Trigun wasn't even the best out of the trio of gunslinger anime that aired in 1998. It was still really good, but Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star were just better.

It's not, but I do love it. Especially from episode 16 onwards. I need to read the manga though, heard it gives Knives more of a personality before the second half of the story.

I agree that Outlaw Star has the best girls, but I don't think it's fair to compare it with Trigun with the only girl worth a damn being Millie, and CB with a small waifuable roster as well.
