The arc was never going to be about Rem. Remfags and fanficanons can obsess and cope all they want, but Tappei acknowledged Rem’s character arc is already mature and has no room to develop. They just cope with the fact Subaru loves Rem - Subaru’s love does not trump the story’s needs or author’s desires. Something like this was doomed to happen - the only way for Rem to be useful is to A: kill her, B: turn her into a plot point rather than a character (coma Rem), or C: regress her (amnesia Rem)

Rem's character never changed that much she just started treating Subaru like she treats Ram.
