maybe I'm juts reading too much into this but something about hajime in the first episode always felt a little off to me. There's the opening school scenes where she's a weird but seemingly normal enough girl - but after she ends up in gatchaman HQ and walks up to where JJ is sitting she kinda pauses for a moment, has what appears to be some kind of epithany and then proceeds to be the ubermensch paragon 1D hero she spends the entire rest of the show as, I always just kinda took it as though something had awakened in here there but maybe it's just kind of weird scripting/direction and they were just trying to rush through the gatchaman shit to get to the anime they actually wanted to make

To me it was the part in the first ep where main guy begins his fight against the bus MESS, you can clearly see her disapproval of his actions because she understood something he didnt, but instead of telling him about it Hajime keeps quiet and just lets him fight which is straight up psycho behavior.
