I, personally, do not understand the modern fascination with 'feel good' OPs with mostly clean guitar, soft instrumentation, relaxing melodies etc. If this anime aired in the 90s or 2000s it would have a dark, melancholic or even 'eerie' OP. Think OG Higurashi or something metal oriented.
Even if the calm OP is supposed to juxtapose with the serious content of the show, it doesn't work.
Zoomers are very ironically cynical user, melancholic and "eerie" OPs are too sincere and empathic for them so instead they prefer the saccharine "feel good" even though things are not feel.
Chase Williams
Although I doubt any of these actually "feel good", rather it just enforces the intensely cynical and suicidal mindset they have. The edgy and angsty but hopeful OPs of the past are way better if you want to actually feel alive or good, but that's too "cringe" for them lol.

You are retarded and so is you're post
Easton Murphy
Poor zoomers. Completely irony poisoned.
Jayden Smith
When I think about what kind of anime these days go for edgy openings, I think of trashy death games or isekai webnovel junk.
It was probably a deliberate choice to avoid being associated with those.
Aiden Brooks
Zoomers aren't edgy, and they think metal or mumblecore is edgy. This isn't complex.
Luke Harris
I don't get it, aren't most OP/ED mainstream/major label shit already in Japan?
Angel Jenkins
youtube.com/watch?v=ItCMX3A1qaE anime has always had upbeat openings. modern ones just suck more often than not because anime ops are used to shill whatever idolshit the sponsor is currently trying to push and modern jpop sucks.
Jonathan Long
But this is a largely positive/happy show. I'm talking about even horror anime like the OP having upbeat music.
