It's not going to be kino with MAPPA, all you are going to see is a shitty inferior, horribly paced blurred copy of something you once loved. The director constantly tweeting shit like "I won't disappoint you" is a sign in itself that the production is going horribly.

most snk don't realize what made season 4 sucks is first and foremost, the director, snk had the godly director s1-3, only in season 4 will you see the moronic music placement, weird cuts and pacing, and the composition itself which certainly includes color grading, animation etc.
A good director will be able to make cgi at least works.

What I worry is the background/sky art, absolutely stellar in 2010s WIT (SnK, kabaneri, VS), I doubt it can be replicated

Not like the director gonna have as much freedom as he did in WIT anyways. Anyone who believes it's going to be comparable to season 1 because few staff are coming back are putting hopes high for disappointment. But don't worry, the army will be there to save any backlash.

S2 and S3 had Masashi Koizuka as main director, with Araki doing more high level decision about the adaptation, with Araki going for micro-managing directing only in a few episodes (the EM moments, the beach episode, “Hero”)

Studio Bamboo did the BGs for Vinland and I don't see any reason for them to not return. It should be fine. And I don't expect the general visual to change if they can still have madbox doing the composite. Which they should considering Yabuta's strong connection with them.
