New Anime?

What's Any Forums's opinion on newer anime? I hear a lot about the 80s and 90s, sometimes even 00's be considered the peak. So what do you fellas think of the current generation of Anime?

New anime is new manga, and yes, I happen to like how some genres have progressed, even their looks.

Older hand drawn cell animation has a certain soul that digital will never be able to replicate.

I can agree to that, personally for me as someone who grew up with what's considered to be the classics, I'm always finding myself at a loss on even being able to choose a camp for what's "the peak of anime and manga". Just due to having so much choice over the shows I watch.

What are some series you personally find interesting in that aspect of being really pretty hand drawn? And would you say that shows such as Ping Pong lack a required soul from not using it? I always found the off model and kinetic energy of the show interesting despite being digital and analog in parts?

"PingPong not having soul" is the language we have so desperatly needed to describe why I used to shit on ChingChong. Literally it insists upon itself.

Damn brat…

I hate isekai
That is my thoughts and barry agrees

What decides or describes "soul". I've seen a lot of shows with that used to shit on it or praise it and even after years of watching the industry I still have no clue what "soul" is.

Bubblegum Crisis OVA has some amazing cell animation.
The Dirty Pair movies as well.
Agent AIKA
Genocyber

Does that include the very early isekai anime's such as Magic Knight Rayearth from the 90s? Or is it mostly just the new ones that seem to get adapted every season? Also who tf is Barry?

authenticity, or the right kind of artistic motivations

>authenticity, or the right kind of artistic motivations
this is the most invalid zoomer nonsense i’ve been ever heard. Surprised you didn’t add “bespoke”

The 80s had amazing cell animation. Would you argue that the loss of cell animation is what really separated older anime from the modern era? Personally for me The Wind Rises has been the best looking ghibli movie I've ever seen compared to others.

I'm sorry you don't like big words user

i like old stuff and new stuff. I can jump from Ranma to Re:Zero without problems

it’s not big words. It’s just cringy pretentiousness caused by a total lack of life experience or wisdom

What are the right kind of artistic motivations? Do you mean making something to not appeal to a standard? The Monogatari series and Welcome To The NHK are two of my personal favorites that I think of when it comes to talk of not meeting a standard quota. Your plenty free to argue that if you wish, I just never really got what "soul" meant.

I loved Ranma and Inuyasha when I was younger. I haven't really watched Re: Zero yet I normally wait until a show is complete to marathon through it.

I only read manga or watch anime for the escapist entertainment. I am not looking for high drama or deep stories. I prefer the fun stuff. And also fanservice and porn

Understandable, that kind of anime will always be there no matter what decade or era anime is going through. I just like a mismash of different genre's and types of shows.
