Just watched the first 5 episodes and it's one of the most retarded anime that I have ever seen. All the characters except Zechs and Duo behave like they have several brain damage.

How is it that I am only in my late 20s yet Gundam Wing feels like it was eons ago? I remember a few things of Gundam Wing. 1) Opening was amazing, truly 90s encapsulated and probably one of my favorite Gundam openings 2) Hiro was an edgy asshole even more unlikable than Sasuke and they worshipped his scrawny ass to high hell. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was as bad as Kira "Jesus" Yamato but still. 3) Horrendously unattractive female characters Gundam Wing was a shitshow but it was still better than Seed, Seed Destiny and g Reco

Watching it as a kid on Toonami back in 2000 I thought it had great writing, but as an adult it is arguablly the worst written Gundam. It's not that the plot itself is bad, per se, but the dialog is god awful. Someone needs to redub Wing but with completely different writing. I've rewatched most of the Gundams and I've come to the conclusion they're all kinda shit without nostalgia goggles. 08th probably being the only decent one.
I get the hate for SEED Destiny because the writer was literally having brain related issues at the time of writing, I don't get it for SEED. SEED pays more homage to the original Gundam 0079 than any other Gundam. It could be argued SEED is a retelling of 0079 but with a modern plot and jpop. Didn't SEED get historically high ratings with women as well. I recall it being ranked relatively high compared to most other Gundam ratings. I think only Zeta and a few other anime got better ratings than it.

It's funny. As a gundam series it was pretty mediocre but I always welcome it whenever it shows up in a Super Robot Wars game as it gives a lot more memorable cross series interactions than when other Gundam shows get in.

Most of the people who watched Wing watched it on Toonami back in 2000 when they were kids. Internet speeds were slow as piss back then and fan subbing wasn't really a thing. So they watched whatever was on their TV at the time. From the pov of kids, Gundam Wing was the best show on TV. I believe it was at one point the highest rated show in USA for the teen demographic.

The show got worse and worse overtime but i kept trying to finish it, but then i was absolutely losing it when there was an episode when lady une suddenly awakened from her long ass coma (she was in coma for like 20+ episodes prior), got changed to her usual uniform, located the wing gundam, and flew straight to treize's position to deflect the cannon in literally seconds of the airtime. It's like a very bad comedy mecha show.

Yes, it’s camp and goofy and very of it’s era, Heero and Wufei in particular are a riot because they’re both insane and unrepentant assholes to everybody for no reason. I remember fucking loving it, but it is VERY stupid.

Code Geass went into production at the same time Death Note was exploding in popularity. The Death Note allowed Light to control people's actions before they died. The Code Geass writer's liked that and decided to make an entire series about it.
