Why is otaku pandering so hated here and outside of Any Forums when the majority of retro anime is chock full of it? The 80s and 90s pandered hard to otaku cause that's when they started entering the industry. Evangelion was literally a response to all the stuff Anno considered soulless. Miyazaki also critiqued the state of anime in the 80s. Why do people pretend like everything was flawless back then?
