Typical Oshii eye candy. Good-looking garbage, wow!

Yeah, but is it entertaining?

Yeah, it's pretty tense political thriller

That depends on your approach to film as a medium.

Not at all, no.

art fims being boring is just a preconceived idea that most people have and it's usually what stops them from enjoying art films.

That's not really the point I want to make. Art films are just films, often with commercial funding, that are believed to have more integrity because they feature more nudity or longer takes or whatever. It's a meaningless distinction. P2 isn't even an art film, it has more in common with Hollywood Tom Clancy adaptations than whatever people imagine art films to be like. My point is that the qualities that make a film entertaining are in the filmmaking itself, which is why I find it difficult to talk about movies here or in general.

You do realize that Oshii himself says he is inspired by Tarkvosky, Rivette and art films?

Art transcends its creator.

Post that scene, you know which one.

This is a blue board, can't post that here.

No, it's a horrible take on Patlabor (but not quite as bad as P3 which actively hated the series)

Is the TV series worth watching? Do the patlabors actually do things like fight and catch criminals for once?

No, of course not, I'm a deranged internet contrarian and actually this showcase piece by some of the most talented people the industry has ever seen looks like complete shit compared to [forgettable seasonal show from less than six months ago]
