What's the most WTF ending in anime?

Should've paid your taxes

>and then the deuteragonist decided to become a god and had the rest of the cast murdered. But the protagonist survived after watching his girlfriend getting raped in front of him. The end.

Yeah they don't even show how he survives.

Mahoromatic

You posted it. Those crazy fucks wanted to do the same thing with Pokemon but surely the producers would never accept it.

Master of Martial Hearts

Shin Mazinger Z
everyone sorta gives up in the end and the world is destroyed

Escaflowne

Aliens want to conquer the Earth because their home planet got fucked with radiation and stuff (their fault of course). War ensues. But the protagonist, an alien who is against it and has a personal grudge over the murder of his pacifist/scientist father, ends up joining the Earth's side, bringing with him a powerful machine that gets developed into a mecha mixed with our technology. War slowly escalates into a disastrous stalemate until the aliens get desperate and decide to melt the ice on the north and south poles at the same time with some new artificial sun machines to flood the planet. The protagonists don't expect such a crazy tactic (aliens want to immigrate, after all, and they already have some front line bases on the Earth's surface) and wrongly choose to be cautious in case those machines are some kind of trap trying lure their mecha right before a decisive final battle. And, of course, this happens.
The anime is Baldios and, technically, this is not the end, just the final episode aired on TV. There's a few more episodes plus a movie retelling, and it gets even more WTF: the surface of the flooded Earth matches with the aliens' home planet, essentially proving that the alien ships traveled backwards in time instead of away from their planet when they took off at the start of the anime, forming a time loop that tells you how the Earth is likely to end up already. Fucked up.

Wow, it's just like real life.

Excuse me what?

That was amazing, that show is the definition of don't judge a book by its cover. People don't get how it's a satire that's taking the piss out of stupid shows like it.

>they even put scenes from the planned second season in the opening and the "precap" episode
>no second season

There's nothing bizarre about that. They got rescued, went home, and then get to drive GaoGaiGar. You get called stupid every time you post this shit on /m/ you're an idiot here too.

I don't think anyone who's long familiar with Mazinger was all that surprised with how this turned out beyond maybe the stuff with Asura. The only real complain was the lack of a Great follow up but SRW V and X seemed to pick up where the anime left off if you want to play those.

>SRW V and X seemed to pick up where the anime left off
how did that go? did it have a satisfactory conclusion?

It was decent. I wouldn't really say it makes up for a lack of a proper season 2 but you get Tetsuya early on and it brings over some stuff from Mazinger Zero which was neat. Generally you just fight off the Myceneans and Emperor of Darkness near the end when you make him shit itself with the power of Zero and Getter.
