Ostania is (politically and economically) closer to China than anything else. I imagine it's an alternative East Germany wherever they went all-in on socialism, it failed and they flipped to state capitalism.

slightly related but in Germany you can go to the old Stasi HQ and fill out a request to see what documents they had on you and who snitched on you.
My grandfather did that and it turns out his lifelong friend kept snitching on him all the time. Shit sucked.
