I don't get how "breathing and training lets you harness your energy to punch harder and run faster" becomes "summon a talking clown that raises your interest rates whenever you opponents throw a punch, but only on tuesdays if you guess the secret password and get hit by a magic chain".

>i don't get magic
It's magic.

fuck you, your meaningless shitpost ruined what could have been my long to write and original fpbp btfo. now I won't even post it.

Clearly the laws of physics are different in that world, to the point where there actually may be a god or singularity of some sort that changed the realitu, enabled and introduced those laws and enabled the whole nen system. Why? Possibly so living forms could advance and eventually reach the level that god/singularity might be interested in and be sent to another world or smth like that

>"summon a talking clown that raises your interest rates whenever you opponents throw a punch, but only on tuesdays if you guess the secret password and get hit by a magic chain"
are you saying that the manga would be better without hatsu? the fights would be really boring without all the cool, original powers. and it's well explained why conditions make the abilities stronger

Because there are more aspects to Nen than just "punch harder and run faster". You are describing Enhancement, just one type of the 6 different types of Hatsus.

Enhancement does what you've described. If a person is not good at using their energy to punch harder and run faster, then this method of usage is not advised.
Emission detaches energy from your body and throws it out as a projectile.
Manipulation infects other things or people with your energy to control them.
Transmutation causes your energy to behave like something else.
Conjuration causes you to mold your energy like clay into a tangible object.
And Specialization is a wild card for anything that doesn't fit the above categories.

With repeated training, practice, and visualization, your imagination forms the basis for a unique ability centered around one of these 6 types of Hatsu, and thus a unique ability is born. Gon decided to punch harder. Killua decided to turn his energy into electricity for faster reaction times and electrocution. Leorio wanted to emulate surgical techniques. And Kurapika decided to diversify as much as he could, creating five abilities he could rely on as an all-purpose multitool.

It would be more realistic, and therefore you could actually take it seriously instead of cringing constantly

>Muh realism
Oh shut the fuck and go back to watching shitty reality tv. If you want realism go take a walk in a shitty american city at night.

it would be a lot less fun just for the sake of being realistic, and it's realistic already in many other ways such as the way the characters are written and their relationships with each others. and if you're really cringing constantly when reading hxh, you might have nigger-tier intelligence.

The problem is you have to explain each power, and the explanations are boring and ruin the flow
Simple magic system is always best

Yeah, it was introduced kinda out of nowhere but at least initially stands' abilities were still somewhat straightforward in part3. After that they just went full retard.

it's just the anime that overexplains everything to pander younger audience and especially the 2011 anime, fucked the pacing a lot. and the reason is simple, hunter x hunter is just meant to be a manga.

>cool, original powers
>in plothole x asspull

the anime made no sense, I had to look it up how nen works after I finished the anime and then rewatched and the show was 10x better once I actually understood what the fuck they were always going on about

>Simple magic system is almost always worse
fixed that for you.
refute my point by an example if you can.

yeah, but I think that's how hxh is meant to be enjoyed. it's better to start with the anime to not be bored by the first manga chapters (which can look boring if it's your first exposure to hxh), and then experience the real kino. so read the manga if you haven't already. and if you did, read it again.

I kneel.

lmao are you serious

yes. I am serious. it's literally the best power system in sienen

kill yourself subhuman shonenspic

yeah I gotta, i'm not much of a manga reader but I already picked up a couple of hard copies from my favorite parts and i'm definitely excited to read it all the way through someday

read it now. you won't regret it. if you have IQ above 140

The great thing about nen abilities is that they mirror the personalities and experiences of the characters that use them
