But there's an sbs floating around where he desvribes the main part of the zoro plot he axed which was an extended flashback that would have shown how the sword-hoarding kitsune had been a sidekick to the one-eyed samurai in the past and stuff. Maybe originally the plan was to have Zoro cut through Kaido's magma armor so Luffy could punch him but scrapped it when he decided it would be less "luffy winning just because his punch is strong" if he upgraded luffy's punch to carry with it a corrosive haki aura that ignores defence, meaning zoro no longer had a role to play so got bumped down to just killing king's fire dragon instead

I'm a Yamatofag and hope that happens. Luffy says that, we get the party, then at the end we get a Yamato flashback with her mom and Yamato realizing she can be her own person and demonstrates it to Luffy. Then they can leave and she joins with an emotional moment. Oda could also save this development for next arc when Yamato is already a strawhat. Either way she'll probably keep the quirk of calling herself Oden sometimes during the trip.
