Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia

>be high schooler with chronic insomnia problems
>be on the hunt for some cardboard for festival props
>go to "haunted observatory"
>there just so happens that he decides to take a nap there and it just so happens that he lies down next to a box where it just so happens a cute girl is also taking a nap in who just so happens to be a classmate of his and just so happens to suffer from the EXACT same type of ailment he does
>"woah, she is literally like me"
>girl immediately is all over his dick for no reason
>they immediately decide to share the space to sleep rather than just fucking off and going their own ways
>"hey I know we just met but let's both sneak out of our houses at night and spend the our time together roaming the streets downtown until sunrise"
>girl invites guy to fix the observatory room and essentially play house with the guy the next day
>they now act like they don't know each other and interact covertly even though they are classmates and there's literally no reason they shouldn't be openly friends

What the fuck is going on? I'm not one to get hung up on small things and it's not like any of these really break my will to continue or anything but all of them combined are really starting to push my patience to its' limits. Even for a romance manga this is really sloppy. There's no buildup, there's not even any real romance, they are just a couple immediately, for all intents and purposes. There's no tension, there's no goal, there's no plot, nothing to overcome. Both seem like perfectly functional and normal high school students apart from their shared maladies. This whole thing barely even has a premise. It'd be nice for a short story, but 4 chapters in and I'm already getting real tired of this shit.

Are there really no romance manga that aren't atrociously written and/or completely autistic love triangle spaghetti for 200.000.000 volumes?

Yeah I heard really good things about this but basically everything you said didn't make sense to me either or just seemed really contrived, and I didn't get far in either.
Like the premise and plot is something I'd see in and tolerate for an quick H-manga, not an actual romance work. Maybe it was meant to be one at first or something, I mean where else would you ever find the premise
>boy with insomnia meets girl with insomnia and immediately after meeting she is obsessed with him and they find out they can only fall asleep cuddled up together in a secluded room during the day and they prowl around all night while everyone is sleeping
I mean maybe it'd work if it was pacing was slower and more gradual, but as it it's a literal porn premise without the sex, and it's got all the depth of one too

Feet.

Are there any good romance manga you would recommend? I'm kinda looking for one, but this really left a sour taste in my mouth.

Next volume is coming out soon

Ase to Sekken
Suki na Ko ga Megane wo Wasureta
Kekkon Suru tte, Hontou desu ka
Kono Kaisha ni Suki na Hito ga Imasu

i think you're just expecting it to be something it isnt. this is not a conventional romance story.

Karin was good and had very nice development just dont read the last volume

This manga quickly became one of the best romance manga I've read.

thanks m8, I'll look them up when I have the time

No, it's not that it isn't conventional, it's barely even a story. I wasn't expecting anything, I started reading off of one page being posted in here of the main girl and I thought she was really cute so I tried it out. Unless in the next chapter it's revealed there's some occult shit going on and it turns into surreal horror manga or something I don't think I "don't get" what the manga is supposed to be.

Any date...?

>Unless in the next chapter it's revealed there's some occult shit going on
that's what im saying. its not that kind of story. its about them growing together and it happens pretty slowly.

june 10th

I know it isn't, that was the point. I'm pretty sure I get what the manga is trying to do. It's just not very good at it imo

how many chapters have you read so far?

4

if you're not feeling it after 4 chapters then it's probably not for you. i would say give it to the end of volume 2.

yeah, that's what I'm saying. I might fuck around with it for a couple more chapters or something but if these little nagging things that are bothering me keep happening I'm probably dropping it after that. Kinda sucks, because I really like the way the manga looks. I even appreciate the vibe. I'm just not a fan of what's actually happening.

i will say that everything that bothers you in the OP is addressed at some point

What are your favorite romances? I'm going to assume it's probably some Magazine garbage romcom or something. Also, all of your complaints are fucking addressed if you'd actually read.

You've literally read nothing then. It's a decompressed and atmospheric story like the author's previous two works and most of your problems are addressed by like volume 3 at the latest anyway.

hey maybe they do that and in a way that's really satisfying and I'll end up loving the thing. I'm just saying it's not off to a great start.

>You've literally read nothing then.
I don't really like this line of thinking. Being slow paced and "they explain it later" is not an excuse to flub you first 5 chapters. How you open your story is one of the most important things and nothing can excuse sloppy writing. Even if you want to open with things that won't make sense until later on, there's ways of writing them that will still leave you interested rather than annoyed.

>Nakami and Magari
>Ukegawa and Nono
>Haida and Anamizu
WIll Kanikawa get a love interest too?

>flub you first 5 chapters
he doesn't get it

Your complaints are retarded and feel like you're just being a nitpicky contrarian. Now what do you consider good romance series? Magari is a pretty classic Manic Pixie Dream Girl and the series is obviously influenced far more by film/drama style romances than manga romcoms.

She doesn't get enough screen time lately.

Kurashiki a best

Trust me I'm not. If anything I really wanted to like this. It even took me a while to finally see what was going on. For the first couple of chapters I was basically ignoring the little things because I was giving the benefit of the doubt coming from the assumption that this was surely gonna be good. Eventually only 4 chapters in these things all compounded enough to where I'm not having a good time.

>Now what do you consider good romance series?
Honestly I can't think of a romance manga I like. And all my favorite romances in Any Forums are from stories that are not romance stories. Romance is just a hellscape of garbage in the medium from my experience, which is admittedly not extensive, precisely because all the stuff I've tried is so underwhelming. I'll be very happy to be proven wrong about this though.
