Something I really like about this manga is how inhuman Shiori is at her core. The sympathetic monster is overdone in modern fiction to the point of becoming the norm, but Shiori is so detached she can't even rationalize Miko having human sensibilities. And it makes her motives even more mysterious. I don't find her personally likable, but as a character she's really interesting.

Isn’t that setting up the typical story of a monster learning what it means to be human? Honestly, I think that Hinako realizing that Shiori is not someone who you have around in your life and lstickong with the Miko, the person who actually cares about her, would be a far better ending.
