It's like how boxers don't have sex before a match. His T-level must of been low from years of pumping Nami full of fish paste that he didn't notice how weak he had gotten. Now compare that to Luffy who has been doing No Nut since he was born, and you see why Arlong didn't stand a chance. It's pretty poetic when you think about. Nami contributed to the fight in her own way to help take down Arlong.
