I'll buy some merch, but I don't purchase volumes. I always wait till the end of the manga to do that. The last time I purchased manga volumes, it was for Chihayafuru and I regret because my favorite character got BTFO in every way possible.

i don't, i binge-read everything on aggregator sites and if i can afford it i buy secondhand since most of the stuff i own is out of print
importing japanese volumes of my favourite stuff costs a fortune and anything OOP is impossible to get in english without paying extortionate prices to scalpers
plus the nearest place to me that sells the tiniest amount of manga that isn't amazon is a barne's and noble fifty miles out and i'm not about to drive a couple of hours just so i can get disappointed that the website lied and they in fact have no copies of anything i want because some twat bought them all up to scalp on ebay
