a lot of these giant explosion jutsu are pure bullshit and uncreative as shit, fights like orochimaru vs sasuke in the forest during chunin exams were showing quick reflexes and tactics used to overwhelm the opponent when rock lee and gaara showed up it completely changed the meta and got retarded with who blasts the biggest AoE attack

So much of this work was hypocritical, contradictory and/or squandered potential. It reels you in with the promise of an uplifting tale of underdogs overcoming adversity but delivers the exact opposite.
Whats even worse is the fact that in place of character growth all you get is power creep. And thats only for a hand full of characters and most of those only go through a single instance of it.
The only thing notable about this series is the period of time in which the Anime came out. The demand for content was high and the supply for content, much less quality content was very low. This is the period when you could ask any anime fan anywhere in the world what anime you should watch and you would invaribly get the same answer. Well that and the fact that the fight animation and choreography is probably one of, if not the single best example in the industry for some reason.
