I'm not too sure, but I'll suggest re:zero as one of the better ones. Not just the main line, but the IF routes. It's actually very meta in the way the author keeps using Subaru and his story to tell isekai's target audience to stop relying on escapism, try harder to better themselves, and to never give up in escape their own shitty loops which are their real lives.
>It's actually very meta in the way the author keeps using Subaru and his story to tell isekai's target audience to stop relying on escapism, try harder to better themselves, and to never give up in escape their own shitty loops which are their real lives. And that makes it good...why?

Can't say for sure. Re:zero grabbed me so hard that I basically ignored everything else. Tried Mushoku tensei, but the main character is repulsive. Shield hero is boring. Overlord didn't really captivate me. grimgar, didn't give it a chance. Konosuba is dope, but that's a comedy anime. cautious hero, it's aight. kenja no mago is dog shit. there's a few others, but they're boring.
Too bad they fucked up the anime adaptation for Re:zero. if it gets a season 3, they better get their shit together, cause a bad adaptation of the "action" arc would be a death sentence.
come on. zero no tsukaima was a first anime for many. right up there with flame haze shana. I think I will be hearing that scratching on my deathbed.
Knights and magic MC is overpowered but I liked everyone's personality and the story.

>Bleach is isekai now. welcome to the new age kid. I did wonder why btooom was on one of the "top isekai" lists.

Very fair point my friend. I read the manga for Knights and magic and the MC is actually kinda cool. I just ended up forgetting about it. For Zero no tsukaima... I hate the characters, but wasn't that the one in which the author died in the hospital? "I really want to live" or something along the lines... that made me sad. >pic very related
where the fuck is that list at? I want to laugh at it.
No idea what happened to the author. I do recall some author saying "I really want to live" before going in for surgery and not making it out but don't recall who it was. I suspect google would have the answers
What I liked about zero was that he actually got to bang a girl and the story had an ending. everyone in it was a trash as a person but they all grew a little together.

Anything otome game isekai is my top pick. Especially if it is yuri
Angel Lee
Yes, that was the ZnT author.

While I like Re:Zero, its not due to any meta shit. The mystery segments are genuinely fun rollercoasters and Subaru's ups and downs as he tries to improve while dealing with schizophrenic tier highs and lows is entertaining. While I like Rudy's character a lot and I found Youjo Senki's "I'm a genius, Oh no" to be funny its just not the same.
