Best of the isekai genre

So which isekai is the best isekai?

I'm not too sure, but I'll suggest re:zero as one of the better ones. Not just the main line, but the IF routes.
It's actually very meta in the way the author keeps using Subaru and his story to tell isekai's target audience to stop relying on escapism, try harder to better themselves, and to never give up in escape their own shitty loops which are their real lives.

And that makes it good...why?

>self insert power trip #9001

Can't say for sure. Re:zero grabbed me so hard that I basically ignored everything else.
Tried Mushoku tensei, but the main character is repulsive.
Shield hero is boring.
Overlord didn't really captivate me.
grimgar, didn't give it a chance.
Konosuba is dope, but that's a comedy anime.
cautious hero, it's aight.
kenja no mago is dog shit.
there's a few others, but they're boring.

Too bad they fucked up the anime adaptation for Re:zero. if it gets a season 3, they better get their shit together, cause a bad adaptation of the "action" arc would be a death sentence.

Haibane Renmei
Angel Beats
Kemono Friends

imho, it makes it worse. kind of shitting on to the hand that feeds you.

Good example of this was outbreak company. MC going into details of how he became a shut in really helped me.
There is no such things as best one .

Now And Then, Here And There. was pretty heavy

I think The Twelve Kingdoms is in the top as far as the story goes.

Escaflowne was also enjoyable in the end even if in the moment was pretty mad at MC.

Tanya is fun but like with some of the other isekai I wish the previous life actually played a bigger role.

>zero no tsukaima
>Knights and magic
also good

I don't wanna be mean but...
>aggressive vomiting noises

reddit:zero is shit and the IF's are garbage edgy OOC shit

I don't think "everyone is dead" anime count as isekai.

yeah trueeeeeee. I prefer SAO and HxH and also that one Death Note. So much better POOOOGGG

Bleach is isekai now. welcome to the new age kid.

come on. zero no tsukaima was a first anime for many. right up there with flame haze shana.
I think I will be hearing that scratching on my deathbed.

Knights and magic MC is overpowered but I liked everyone's personality and the story.

>Bleach is isekai now. welcome to the new age kid.
I did wonder why btooom was on one of the "top isekai" lists.

Very fair point my friend.
I read the manga for Knights and magic and the MC is actually kinda cool. I just ended up forgetting about it.
For Zero no tsukaima... I hate the characters, but wasn't that the one in which the author died in the hospital? "I really want to live" or something along the lines... that made me sad.
>pic very related

where the fuck is that list at? I want to laugh at it.

Youjo Senki > RE: Zero > Isekai no Seikishi

listchallenges.com/ultimate-list-of-isekai-anime/list/2

No idea what happened to the author. I do recall some author saying "I really want to live" before going in for surgery and not making it out but don't recall who it was. I suspect google would have the answers

What I liked about zero was that he actually got to bang a girl and the story had an ending. everyone in it was a trash as a person but they all grew a little together.

Anything otome game isekai is my top pick. Especially if it is yuri

Yes, that was the ZnT author.

While I like Re:Zero, its not due to any meta shit. The mystery segments are genuinely fun rollercoasters and Subaru's ups and downs as he tries to improve while dealing with schizophrenic tier highs and lows is entertaining.
While I like Rudy's character a lot and I found Youjo Senki's "I'm a genius, Oh no" to be funny its just not the same.

Does "Beware of the Villainess" count for you?
This is as based as it can be.

There are some with potential but non of them have anime.
usually when someone uses memes they come off as tryhard but it works in that one.

Is it manhwa? If so then probably not. It's been years since i last read webtoon. I'll still give it a try tho
