There's so much good amd interesting anime out there you can completely stop watching live action movies and you will lose nothing of value. How does Japan manage to keep anime fresh, original and expressive, not limiting it to a small demographic and genre?

That's not really true, even ignoring the ratio of good to bad anime, the anime industry is still rather small. There's probably only 8-9k anime out if you ignore all the chink/gookshit and other random stuff, so watching most, if not all good anime is not really impossible at all.

Hell, if you know japanese and have anime as your main hobby, you can easily run out of good anime by your early 30s, so diversifying into different hobbies is pretty much inevitable. Dunno why you would want to avoid live action movies anyway.

*out there

too true user. I've rcently discovered Berserk if you can believe that. And Ergo Proxy, and Grave of the Fireflies, and Gunslinger Girl and a whole lot of other shit. I haven't watched a hollywood movie since Spider Twink Homecoming

My sides

Ok weeb

i looked up the OP image. is it as good as grave of the fireflies? don't think i wanna start a 160min movie and not like it

how does Any Forums do it

Very carefully

delusional. the ratio of good to bad in japanese media is just as bad as the one in western media. you're just making your judgement off of the best Japan has to offer.

watch it and find out. i'm gonna watch it tomorrow.

Because a vast majority of the live action stuff is made to appeal to the lowest common denominator, it's the same with Japanese live action and what's even worse is that East Asian(Nip, Taiwan, Chinese and Korean) LA takes this further and only appeals to the lowest common denominator among woman so not even cool fighting shit like marvel.

>cool fighting shit like marvel

Anime and live action movies offer completely different things. It's entirely possible to enjoy both. And I do like both but have to budget my time and so will miss a lot of both since there's so much. There might be a handful of anime that get anywhere close to scratching the itch that arthouse movies do. I personally don't really get into many anime movies. They're usually just okay.

Other than them both set during ww2, they are pretty different. It is mostly just the daily life of a housewife pre-ww2, during ww2, and after ww2. Fireflies felt more like a pessimist being down the whole time, while This Corner feels more like an optimist trying to be happy during a shitty time.

it's probably rooted in the fact that animation in japan developed after the war alongside the expansion of television whereas in america animation reached its mature form before the war and was cinema-based. television's nature as a medium encourages the rapid development and turnover of titles. if the market becomes saturated a new channel can be started, as opposed to cinema which requires the construction of new movie theaters and entire studios. while the internet era has made television's offerings seem quaint and limited if the only thing you can compare it to is cinema tv is has a massive content advantage
