Because it was kind of shit.
Taking the slow paced melancholic vibe of the early/mid 2000s to an extreme. MULTIPLE recap or half-recap episodes certainly didn't help.

It's really the kind of thing that is for a niche audience in a specific mood.

Aldnoah.zero, shame the second season was bad after the first was so good. Also last exile was excellent, they did an especially good job with sound design
