This franchise has such a big world and interesting setting, but I feel like it's let down by the characters. Now I'm not saying the characters are bad, but with the amount of conflict, similarities and whatnot that some of them share, there is a surprisingly lack of meaningful character interaction.
I get maintaining the status quo like Touma meeting a new, Index being jealous, will he/won't he remember Misaki ect. However it shouldn't be too hard to at least focus on some important character dynamics. Which when he actually does it, it turns out pretty good.

Raildex is a yuri franchise, it is only meant for yuri. However, Mikoto is made and BUILT only for her Queen Misaki.
Index must accept a relationship with another girl, instead.

I'm not expecting it too change especially after almost 20 years of content.

Not exactly what you're talking about. But I don't find Mikoto's and Misaki's relationship that fun. I enjoyed it in the railgun series, but I don't know it's kinda annoying at times.

It was never fun. If I wanted to see thirsty cunts cunting at each other over a boy who wants neither of them, I’d to back yo high school.

But its a good template to write a good story. Just because its typical doesn't mean its terrible, but its still dependent on how its executed overall. You can still have all the potential to create a good story to only flush it down the toilet with poor narrative and writing. Happens with many series like this one.
