What killed Toriko's popularity? I mean he had a crossover with Dragon Ball Z and One Piece for fuck's sake.

Shitty anime I hear, heavily censored as well I think I heard
Nothing "killed" it. They failed to create it. All the crossovers were meant to boost the interest, which didn't work.
The author can't draw
Got double-penetrated by Toei and Shonen Jump, it's like they specifically conspired against Toriko to make it fail.
>disgustingly-(un)produced anime that looks so awful it actually fucked with how Toriko's art style is perceived, despite it looking pretty good in the manga
>author was given an axe threat right in the middle of the fucking story just when things were about to explode, and was forced to cut the remainder of the narrative's content down to a SEVENTH of what it was supposed to be
I swear to God, if it weren't for their reputations, nobody in their right mind would work for Shitoei and Sharten Jolt.
The story is just suck, ugly character designs didn't help either.
>b-but Toei
Toriko's failure is definitely not the fault of the biggest and richest anime studio in Japan with plenty of big hits under its belt. The only one to blame is the author.
The lack of waifus probably hurt it from a merchandising perspective if nothing else.
>biggest and richest anime studio in Japan
>produces one of the objectively cheapest-looking anime to have been ever made relative to the era's standard
I didn't know Toei hired shills to post on 4channel.
horrible anime
Toriko v Tommyrod was one of the best shounen fight in the manga
The crossover is ultimately why it failed. It made it perfectly clear Toriko was entirely corporate bullshit being pushed by Jump heavyweights trying to help their friend.
I'm surprised a bad anime adaptation harmed the manga series. Why would some manga readers of Toriko allow the anime to affect their enjoyment of the manga? Very strange.
I discovered toriko with the OP-DBZ crossover, i tried the anime for 3-4 episodes and I gave up. After a while I picked up the manga and i liked it.
Most of the people hadn't the will to do the latter
It didn't harm mangareaders, it harmed the animeonlies, who were to supposed buy the manga if they liked anime (anime adaptations are advertisements for their source material 99% of the time). Unfortunately, Shitoei made an eye-bleaching-worthy garbage heap of an adaption that made what was supposed to be an advertisement into a warning. Then Jump, being the colossal retards that they are, gave the author the axe note due to the poor performance of the anime, EVEN THOUGH THE VOLUMES WERE SELLING PRETTY FUCKING WELL CONSISTENTLY.
>duuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh peepull tink shit anemay is shit soooo i gezz ur mango is dead
Assholes.
They used Toriko as practice for Super, trying to come up with a show that could mix kiddy stuff with serious moments. It didn't work for Toriko because shit gets way too serious later on. Meanwhile Super feels more like a return to original Dragon Ball, with tournaments and cartoony big bads like Moro and Goku Black.
Any Forums libertarians always come out of the woodwork when corporations are criticized.
it's amazing to me that not even naruto and much less ichigo got a crossover with goku but this toriko dude did.
i literally never heard of him until the crossover and he didn't look interesting enough for me to watch his show and i guess i wasn't the only one who felt like that because no one remembers this toriko guy today.
really bizarre.
Toriko was a forced push that was never gonna take off
Gonna let you in on a wild thing. 90% of anime and manga discourse is purely about manga. Only in Japan do they bother reading the manga.
The fuck is your dumb ass even talking about? Super was so bad people were getting nostalgia for fucking GT. If it wasn't for them dumping the entire rest of their budget in the last ten episodes Super would go down as one of worst animated shows of all time. It didn't even get a little improvement until almost 80 episodes into that slop. Fuck you yes I mad.
Shill shit, deserved to die.
Dollar store monster hunter.
I'm just saying the truth. It's stupid to blame the biggest anime studio in Japan. Toei did everything they could to make it popular, big marketing, putting anime in prime time, decent production value, even making crossovers with worldwide IPs like DB and OP. The story just didn't sell, another series that's actually good is guaranteed to be popular if it gets the same treatment.
>decent production value
Why lie
How much are they paying you? It can't be enough to debase yourself with sheer dishonesty.
They pushed it as hard as Roman Reigns that it became overrated and underrated at the same time.
