Spike shows his apathetic toward the situation the "whatever" can range from good to bad and "happens, happens." show that he doesn't care what kind of event it will effect him, because it just happen to him and there's no way he could do anything to change about it, the past is the past. This can be interpreted as "pessimistic person"

Now sakira on the other hand believe differ from spike mainly her "optimist" she believed that no matter what kind of situation might happen to her "it will work out" in the end no matter how terrible it was. Which can be interpreted as "optimistic person"
