See for me, maybe I'm in the minority here, but I enjoyed all the sex but was far more intrigued by how everyone interacted, what was motivating the sex. It's very obvious there was more to these characters, and it's nice that the author is actually exploring that.
That being said, there isn't any sex in the it. It really is focused on the characters. But you aren't fucking paying for it anyway, and it'll give more context to the porn when the next one comes out. So why not read it, if you're already reading the porn?
Like, we learned in the first chapter Imaizumi is bishounen enough that some of his male friends have crushes on him, which makes him feel even less manly. That's some shit, man.

A lot of people felt this was cliche, and it definitely is, but I think it's interesting Reina doesn't mention that she overheard the conversation at all. Clearly she feels Imaizumi is manlier, or more chivalrous, or whatever, than people credit him for, but rather than outright say that they make out.
Which, I guess that's kind of how these girls are training him to be more manly, but still. Interesting.

Yes, it's a safe for work spinoff of the hentai that takes place in the same universe. The author is also continuing the hentai. It's pretty obvious he's put a lot into these characters, he has a bunch of sfw 4koma with them he's been releasing on Twitter, too.
We're certainly seeing it from a different angle, but the hentai was never explicit about how slutty they actually were. It's pretty clear they were not virgins, Ruri fucking starts by rimming him. But it's also implied they aren't fucking anyone else now that they have Imaizumi, either.
