Part of working as a translator is the desire to find good series that aren't being localized and give them their time in the sun. If the series you're working on gets picked up by an official company, that means that now you're free to dig up another unknown gem to share. Thats the general drive behind stuff like this. The time you're spending TL-ing a work that others are already doing, is time you're not spending translating something that hasn't ever been.

Same thing happened to creature girls, seven seas got spooked by the woke centaur chapters and dropped it. No group has picked it up in years.

And then the official translation is half-assed or even uses the scanlation as a basis, gets two volumes translated and then soft-dropped by the publisher VERY cool
