The genre has certainly gotten more male-friendly in the last few years. Right now I’m enjoying Looking Up to Magical Girls, Anemone is in Heat, and that boob groping one.

I wonder about that. I think that what's changed is that more guys have become interested in yuri romance by itself rather than something that has merely has yuri romance as a side dish. But the latter is still more popular. For example: MahoAko, Shimeji, and Satsuki are probably most popular yuri series on Any Forums.

What most changed is that a lot of the last generation yuri authors are male, 15 years ago they were almost all female and were shoujo authors before.

I already read a bunch like Whispering You a Love Song, Vampeerz, Adachi and Shimamura, Shimeji Simulation, Asumi-chan and Citrus + but I picked up a couple more over the past few days, Anemone is in Heat and My Wish is to Fall in Love Until You Die. Lots of choice and variety nowadays compared to years ago.

It's a mixed bag. There have been psychos haunting yuri and yuri related threads for almost a decade at this point. More and more people getting into yuri at least helps to drown them out and bring in fresh blood.

None of that has increased the popularity of the shoujoshit looking ones so the male friendly element still feels the most important, including dropping most of the drama involving guys.
