Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution 3
>What's ya'lls thoughts on this hoe ass movie/franchise.
it's shit
Original show wasn't that good.
It was best if the 3 hi evos
>ya'lls
go back to plebbit
huh this thing got theater airing outside japan?
>mfw checking the google
wait, my country will get it too?????
The original show was decent enough as a coming of age story with some high concept sci-fi bits. All the other shit since then has spoiled most of the original's potential however.
>ya'lls
Please stop the cringe
I think it's somewhat a follow up to 2. So they merged a world and however he died when eureka was insane in 2 was it(?). That's my best guess. U less they did complete restart again.
I like AO to a point. Then it became crap. Music was good
You're insane the original show was amazing.
Great aesthetic, Music, Character Designs, mecha designs, setting designs, the animation was great, the colors and compositing was great, the characters were well written, the world was fully realized, and we see tons of different side characters that slowly build the bigger picture of the setting.
E7 was the perfect shounen coming-of-age tale.
It's even more impressive when you also take into account the fact that it came out in 2005 and looks like it could've come out a decade+ later.
Yoshida's designs are still refreshing, and the gestural figure drawing style he has is perfect in motion.
The original show has some of the best openings in anime history IMO, OP3 is as dramatic as an entire episode on its own. The Nirvash is also my single favorite mecha design of all time, so fucking cool and the way it surfs in the sky is just the best. Fuck I want to watch this show again now.
Goddamn shame that every additional piece of material related to this series is "NOOOOO WE DON'T LIKE THE HAPPY ENDING OF THE ANIME WE WANT IT TO BE SAD AND GRITTY," absolute waste.
Why did they keep changing the ending
I was always surprised that people hated OP3, I loved it so much.
The pop punk/garage band style song really fits with E7's rebellious themes and tone.
"I CAN FLY AWAY" is a line that illustrates Renton's spirit and growth beautifully.
And the OP scene itself was just beautiful, it was like a short film in itself.
I don't think I can recall another anime OP that has been directed like that(maybe it's slipping my mind)
The sequence in OP3 is like the perfect summarization of the heart of E7.
I've heard there were disagreements on the ending.
Kyouda, the director, wanted the darker ending, but the staff pushed for the one we got.
And that was the right move imo since the story builds up to it.
Throughout E7 you see examples of failed couples who were separated by fate and fall into tragic endings, so it's nice that Renton and Eureka are the ones to overcome that.
Also it allows E7 to stand out from the other Bones originals at the time which all had bittersweet endings, that seemed to be a trend in the 00s that I think was inspired by Eva.
Kyouda ended up to continue making E7 sequels, though I don't think any of them have been as popular as the original which probably bugs him.
He would've really just been better off creating those projects as original mecha anime, it's not like Bones wouldn't do it. Since E7 they've created quite a few of those, fitting for a studio that branched off of Sunrise.
I've been watching Xam'd recently, another Bones show, and that show feels very similar to E7, though the staff aren't the same key people bones used for it.
The second Hi-Evolution and this movie are the best things to come out of this franchise since the original show. I honestly loved how this movie recontextualized all the weird continuities they've made. And Eureka's relationship she forms with Iris was so good. It's not perfect, but I felt it tied up the franchise nicely
They made an ova for the darker one right? So was ok but I heard it had like 3 different writers in the making of it. Then finishing the story with gambling..
2 was actually interesting and I liked this one a lot. Iris wasn't awful and the ending while confusing was sweet. Wonder if this series is on a hold for a bit now.
That crappy movie after the first series was the worst
They knew exactly what they were doing when they showed Dewey in that one lava scene.
Was worried at first when I saw Yoshida wasn't gonna be in the 3rd film. But overall her new "human" design grew on me. Seeing how she spends her days off drinking in the middle of the day and lifting weights made me swoon for her all over again.
I liked the "new" eureka. Different look made a good impact
