Basically 8man was in love with Yukino since before the start of the series but he was in denial about it.

8man and Yukino hooking up was Sensei's master plan. The service club was basically set up to be their love nest and force them to interact with each other.

Yukino's personality is the main attraction. She's actually rather plain when it comes to looks.

Oregairu is a very simple story at its core. It didn’t bullshit us with a twist ending and that is it’s strength.

I think sensei was just curious about how they’ll interact with each other. Kind of like locking up 2 wild animals together to see what will happen. Them ending up wanting to fuck each other was just a welcome surprise.

The entire story of Oregairu can be summed up as "Sensei tries to get her two most autistic students to fuck."

The drama in WA2 was a few tiers higher than anything this series ever got into.

Yui didn't go full psychopath and try to drive a wedge between 8man and Yukino after realizing they were in love. 8man and Yukino found happiness while they were still in highschool instead of being dragged into years of heartbreak and misery by Yui's manipulations.
