Just found out there is a new urobochi gen anime
Why isn't anyone talking about this or am I just slow?
Premise sound like something from patema inverted
Bubble
cuz it's shit
It sucks, and Obata's art style doesnt fit the mood
Can't be that bad?
I just downloaded a bunch of other movies as well. Sidonia, pompo, summer ghost, ai no utagoe and starlight revenue
Lets see if there is any gem among them
From what I understand Urobuchi didn’t actually write the script. He outlined the ideas and handed the scriptwriting over to two other credited writers.
The movie looks really good, and has some stunning character art, but the story lets it down. It follows the now generic Shinkai three act structure, and feels like it’s treading the same ground Your Name and Weathering With You did. And it doesn’t really feel like there was enough time to sell the romance. Which was probably hindered by parkour capture the flag taking up screen time. The Little Mermaid was able to get me to care about Ariel, but Ariel didn’t spend half an hour playing bubble flag.
We talked about it on the weekends.
It's a really good anime.
First anime that actually made me cry.
Screw the haters, they don't get it.
Check out the manga.

As for the movie.
The movie definitely felt like it would have benefited greatly from being a 24 episode anime with a "gekijouban" movie finale, with AU sequels Eureka7 style (without the cringe though).
Hibiki and Uta's relationship needed to be developed way more slowly, and the mystery and lore of the Bubbles needed to be explained for like 7 episodes.
It was a really a great long story forced into a shorter "Shinkai" esque format.
It's still awesome though.
I wish it got a video game, sequels and all that cool stuff.
I'm a huge apologist. I like most things that Any Forums rags on as being utter shit you have to turn your brain off to enjoy.
And even I finished Bubble frustrated and wanting my time back from how unsatisfying it was
>hating on Bubble
Another proof that Any Forums has objectively bad taste.
Saying it has bad story, etc.
It has a GOOD story and enough is kept in semi-mystery to keep you intrigued.
Are the bubbles a literary/visualmetaphor or is it something more esoteric/scientific?
This is a good question.
I really think this whole concept needs way more time-space to play out, as in more content can shed the light on the mystery of the Bubbles.

My favourite song was the "Ja mata ne" ending.

People should really give it a try.
>Sidonia
I didn't like that either
Because Netflix bad and apparently also movie bad
>literally an ideas guy
how do I get this role?
The problem with the romance is not time, but the fact that the girl is not even a character. She barely talks, she has no real interests or preferences, and the movie has the fucking nerve to just quote The Little Mermaid instead of developing its own damn characters. "They love each other because uhhh, The Little Mermaid is a classic, right"? is not even bad writing, it's the writer just going CTRL + V with a hyperlink and calling it a day.
Movie was good.
I think what a lot of people didn't catch was the lore hook.
In the opening, there was a reference to the Bubble Universe theory.

Thus, Uta is meant to represent the infinite Cosmos, the bridge between reality and supernatural, the duality of the universe.
Her being able to become sapient is a metaphor for the world around us being smarter than we think.
>she barely talks
Speedwatcher? She talks enough for her character realistically.
>no real interests
Dude...she literally does.
>no preferences
She's interested in Hibiki.
I could try to extrapolate my understanding of Uta but a lot of it would be headcanon so I'll just tell you to pay attention to the Bubble aspect of the movie.
Anime movies generally suck. There's maybe one movie out of 20 that doesn't feel like wasted time.
Made in Abyss and Hathaway Flash were great
This is the problem with Any Forums.
You show them awesome stuff like Bubble, they say "meh, bad story, didn't like".
You show them some retarded crap like Kekmetsu No Yaiba, they immediately go "OMG 10/10 KINO le Ufotable Nezuko chan Reddit anime cool".
Don't rely on Any Forums's Any Forums to validate your preferences in fiction.
Again though I think that’s partly a time issue. In The Little Mermaid Ariel arrives as a fleshed out person with desires and feelings. In Bubble it takes time for the girl to even learn how to be human first.
Revue Starlight is. Best anime film I had seen in awhile.
>Made in Abyss
no, it was too fast paced
a second season would have been way better
first day on Any Forums?
we don't like demon slayer
Okay, Any Forums likes DBS then.
Bubble is still better than that DragonBalls nonsense.
Thing is, learning how to be human can also be done much better than whatever the fuck Bubble did. Hell, Hibiki and Uta's relationship would actually work better without The Little Mermaid references because at least the relationship would be their own - not necessarily a romance in a conventional sense of the word, but a weird, brief connection between an autist and a human-shaped bubble who liked to run and do acrobatics together. But no, gotta shove in the muh classical romantic tragedy angle, which the characters or the story don't earn at all.
because it's not really urobochi gen it's some guy wearing his skin
The Hathaway movie was alright, but it wasn’t that great. The best thing about it were the Gundam scenes, like being inside the cockpit. The story was forgettable. Most of the movie is like this noir romance that goes nowhere.
DBS threads are full of cross boarders only
we dont like that shit
