On a scale of 1-10 how desperate are you for sex with Yuu

11 here

Wait, what the fuck?

That facial expression is exactly like Lum

I wonder if the two shows had any character designers/animators/directors in common.

Creamy Mami's character designer was everywhere in the 80s and worked on some UY movies

Makes sense. I know UY people also later worked on Dirty Pair and Ayase Megumi's VA played Yuri. Akemi Takada also did the cover art for the album of Creamy Mami covers Takako Ohta released last year.

I finished it a few months ago. It was very good.

What are pre-Sailor Moon Mahou Shoujo shows like?

Very soulful.

That was a really weird episode.

I kind of wish there could be a remake or continuation of some sort, but I know it wouldn't be worth it. I'm gonna try watching Fancy Lala next.

They'd just find a way to fuck it up. It ended perfectly anyway, though they never did address that circus kid and his scheduled re-meeting of Yuu in like 1991 or something. I really expected a new OVA around that time to wrap that plot thread up.

I watched it back when AnimeSols was a thing and really wanted to like it, but didn't. My favorite episode was ironically the one that felt nothing like the usual tone of the show, the one about the piano guy.

A shame because the designs and colors of Creamy Mami are so iconic.

Piano episode was the best one, I agree.

That would've been a lot of fun. And they would fuck it up, I just think there were a few missed opportunities. A tribute special or series heavily inspired by Mami would be better. I know they did a spin-off comic, maybe I should check that out. As much as I loved the characters in this show I wouldn't want to hear them officially voiced by anyone else.

>when AnimeSols was a thing
Are they not a thing anymore? I understand why someone interested in something more mature and less episodic might not like this show but it was almost perfect for me. A magical girl heroine that's super rough and reckless was a breath of fresh air after looking through more modern Mahou Shoujo and finding nothing but Usagi clones. Yuu reminded me a lot of Hilda.

Nope. "Retro"Crush exists now though.

I'm quite fond of episodic stories, I just thought the quality of the writing/humor wasn't that great. I didn't particularly care for any of the characters, with Toshio in particular not really selling to the viewer why Yuu liked him so much outside of the climax episodes.

Maybe I'm just prefer the feel of the 90s. I haven't watched any of the OVAs sans the Zutto Kitto Motto MV and I easily prefer that over the TV series.

Someone said in a pre-2000 thread that Persia's anime was better than Mami's. Is this true?

I see. I enjoyed the writing and humor (for the most part) and liked every character, except Midori. I thought Toshio was actually really well done, the episode that ends with him going to find Yuu in their secret hideaway where they used to hang out cause they got stuck there one time might be my favorite episode of the entire series.

>Zutto Kitto Motto MV
Is that the one where older Yuu reminisces? I haven't watched it yet because RetroCrush doesn't have lyric subtitles for some reason. I did watch the first OVA on there though and the subs were horrendous. I'm pretty sure the Tubi and RetroCrush release are one in the same but the Tubi subs are superior, I'm glad I watched the show on there instead.

Persia?

Is Minky Momo any good?

Mahou no Yousei Persia, made by the same studio. I heard it doesn't have subs though, not sure if that has changed lately.
