Tell don't show vs show don't tell

which approach do you prefer in manga?

hm, both extremes suck.

the mars roaches manga also does tell dont show so hard i had to drop it

Show don't tell. I think Chainsawman did a good and bad job of this though. The author the has to be good to pull it off correctly or you'll just confuse the readers. OR maybe the author wants you to think about it.

don't show
don't tell

>show don't tell is when I have to read more than ten words at a time

Show don't tell. This is a visual medium, for God sake.

Some stories benefits more from telling and some others by showing
Both have their own strenghts, the author has to use them in a proper way and at the right time

>muh show don' tell

>a couple of meme pages means hxh is "tell don't show"

Show don't tell but in either a manga spinoff or an OVA

What's the general consensus on BLAME! here?

That ending with Kurapika was kino.

>which approach do you prefer in manga?
tell and show

This

Yeah, the contrast of them being happy and full of light with Kurapika falling more and more into the dark pit of revenge was good.

None because most people here have not read it.

>normal panels about characters doing shit is what hxhfag's equivalent of show don't tell means
show don't tell implies delivering important subtext with minimal to no dialogue, in pic related Tena realizes how Agni became Fire Punch and why he killed her father without a single word uttered, if Togashi drew this page the text would be all over the place pointing out how the grand daughter happened to have the same abilities as Doma and Tena finally understanding her father's crime towards Agni;
but no, it's subtle and effective.
Togashi is a disgrace to this medium, he wants to draw the bare minimum but also knows writing an actual novel requires more words than the scribbles he puts all over his chapters, so he just takes the worst of both mediums and combines them into this lazy abomination of a "manga"

I actually never realized this on my previous readings of FP, they never really knew why he was called Fire Punch to begin with before this scene
Kino

?

Most people have. It's garbage.

i haven't read the new omnibus? deluxe? version but i really liked the old one

Tell and show tbqh.

Otherwise it's not realistic, there should be some exposition but they should contain half-truth/opinonated by the characters.

I couldn't follow what was going on and dropped it like 15 chapters in.
The world and character design was pretty cool but I didn't get the story.

that's because you were reading from left to right

I was also reading without glasses and it was dark
