A friend of mine recommended me this show, for context:
>The only Issekai show I’ve seen was Re:Zero & SAO. Zero I dropped it on episode 16 cuz I thought it was boring as fuck. SAO I finished the first season of and is far and away one of the worst anime I’ve seen period.
Will I enjoy this series? What makes it different from other Issekai? Should I read the light -novels, watch the anime, or read the manga? Dub or sub? I’d like your opinions and takes on this series.
If you don't trust your friend's recommendation, then don't bother coming here, because we're not even inclined to want you here.

It won Any Forums AOTY 2021 no matter what you controlled for. Stay mad. If you don't like it, you don't belong here.

>issekai oh fuck off
Aiden Campbell
Watch the first 8 episodes and then ask yourself, "How filtered am I?" If you are, stop. If not, proceed.
Wyatt Scott
It's one of the only three worthwhile isekai, and the best serious one.
Dominic Bailey
Trash
Gavin Brown
it's only interesting up to a certain point, for me it was vol19 is where I completely dropped it and couldn't bother reading it anymore
Alexander Moore
Im not mad? I’ve never even seen it and just want some more opinions, he’s recommended me both good and bad

Light novels easily. After Vol12 the story changes so it's up to you if you cut off at 12 or keep going. Anime is nice but it cuts out a lot from the novels, it's really only there if you want to experience the story at a pace of a lobotomize, that's not bad sometimes I've put down a novel for an easier way to enjoy the media because I want to turn my brain off.
LN is currently only up to 16 so you'll need to wait for the rest to be translated by seven seas. The WN is a shitty translation don't ruin it for yourself.

Then try out the anime, since the purpose of anime is to be an advertisement for the source material. If you like it, then read the light novel, and if you're too impatient to wait a year until the second season airs, you can also try out the manga. There's also a few other spin-off manga series, like the adventures of the blue-haired girl, and another one for the red-haired girl.
The main character is an unnamed overweight Japanese man in his thirties who wasted his life being a useless NEET and leeching off from his family after having been bullied 20 years ago. He gets kicked out from his room by his siblings after the protagonist didn't even bother coming to the funeral of his parents who supported him all those years. This series is the one that started the trend of isekai stories using the reincarnation angle (instead of being transported fully) and the meme truck that kills the ones it isekais.

I never watched it because I saw the isekai tag and because it has children mains with colorful hair and a male MC surrounded by girls.
Easton King
I still dont see the point of making it an isekai instead of straight up fantasy
Daniel Richardson
Your friend sounds like a filtered normalfag
