Honestly, it's decent at best.
The main problem with SAO is they need another male character to balance Kirito influence because he is gary stu and it's boring watching him solve everything in the world as if no other capable human exist. Also just remove Asuna, she contribute nothing to the story except being damsel in distress (a role which every female character can easily fill).

I hate Asuna and believe every single female introduced after her is ten thousand better. But they fucking insist on pushing Asuna so I can't fucking take it. Ordinal Scale was the last straw. Fuck Asuna. Having said that, Phantom Bullet is the best saga.

The first two seasons are pretty shitty. It got interesting with Alicization.
I like some of the music, which also got better in Alicization.

I found the original kinda boring. The spinoff with the knights was good, until the main cast shows up dressed like whores and shooting laser beams, that was incredibly jarring. Also funny how the public barely reacted to the autonomous android girl (also, how did they build her? On the ship they had a clunky piece of shit bot)
