Luffy did stupid shit that almost got him killed and the guy he admires got his arm bit off after jumping in to save him.
Deku cant stop crying and acting like a beaten housewife even after becoming powerful

The context is also necessary for why they're crying.
Kaiji losing half his fingers and everything he worked so hard for? Completely deserving for him to bawl.

the fact that Deku's main source of motivation is becoming DA COOLEST SUPEHERO EVAAH and nothing gives me the impression he would fit the Penance story arc just fine
