"It's fun."

>"It's fun."
>"As long as it's entertaining, it's good."

These opinions are absolute dogshit. They show a lack of media literacy as well as help to kill art and intellectualism in general.

Nah but your thread does. Watch more anime, read more manga, have sex, etc. etc.

Consider that not everything that airs on TV needs to be art

art and intellectualism are for bourgeoise homosexuals

There is no such thing as "objectively" good or bad art, because there is no inherent quality to objective reality. Your own mental state affects how you perceive quality. "Consensus" is just people collectively having the same feelings, which leads me to believe that people's ideas on art quality are extremely influenced by socialization.

If it's thematically fulfilling with depth, tight writing and interesting scenarios. This is a shitty zoomer/millenial think from people with short attention spams that cannot distinguish literature from literally Tweets and Movie quips.

Writing comes from big structures. It can be dry sometimes, it can be dense, and it can make you think, reflect or feel. It doesn't have to entertain you like dangling keys held over a stupid child.

Your philosophy would work perfectly over at Marvel tho.

tl;dr back to plebbit with you

>zoomer
The use of this word immediately invalidates whatever point you were trying to make.

There is no law, legal moral or natural, that can stop me from enjoying both Legends of the Galactic Heroes and Symphogear.

ISN'T IT FUN, KAIDOU!? AHAHAHAHA

I agree.
But only when they try way too hard to defend garbo plot.
Otherwise, allow me to consume shit if there is no dish at all.

Shut up nigger

>>"As long as it's entertaining, it's good."
This is all that matters. The funny thing is you're implying that you can't find intellectual things entertaining which speaks to how much of a brainlet you probably are.

>there is no inherent quality to objective reality
Maybe not, but we can get close enough for meaningful discussion. Consensus is part of this, but not the whole story.
Ultimately, if you don't want to talk about whether your favorite anime is good or bad, that's fine, but it just means you don't want to engage with that conversation. Leave it to the big boys.

If you only view art as mindless entertainment that makes you happy, then it becomes degenerative. Because people actually need to analyze and unpack their troubles sometimes. If you only look at art as escapism in the sense that it will not challenge you, then you’re neglecting the opportunity it presents to help safely explore difficult concepts and deal with them.

>>"As long as it's entertaining, it's good."

>If it's thematically fulfilling with depth
>interesting scenarios
Any of these that someone can find life changing can be dogshit for someone else, especially if the work has any sort of flaw that might detract depending on sensibilities.

The reality is objective quality does exist, but it is merely a smaller part of a much bigger whole of what a piece of art is or means to someone.

So we need to find whatever art will help you with your problem of being a pretentious faggot then.

People who say that thoughtful and entertaining are opposites are midwits addicted to works that are both tedious to watch and have nothing interesting to say.
