Skip and Loafer Storytime volume 1

Mitsumi Iwakura is a girl with a dream: from the small town of Ikajima in rural Ishikawa Prefecture, she hopes to become a member of the Japanese bureaucracy, building a political career so she can eventually return home filled with knowledge and experience she'll use to revive her hometown. To do that, she's determined to enter Tokyo University and to do THAT she's decided to leave Ishikawa to attend high school in Tokyo. Confident and ambitious, sets off on her path though events, including befriending the popular Sousuke Shima, might just throw a wrench in her plans.

I like this series a lot. It's a really good romance and coming of age series carried by a strong and incredibly well-written characters. Mitsumi may be the central character but it develops into an ensemble cast with the other characters and their own issues getting plenty of chance to shine. It was announced last year that it'll be getting an anime adaptation so I figure what the hell, let's read it.

Pages 7 and 9 are just black and white versions of these two pages so the color pages are going to take priority.

Cool, I've been meaning to catch up on this. I really liked the little bit I read a few years ago.

It honestly gets better as it goes. The first volume or so is obviously the author feeling things out but once she gets a handle on the characters and their dynamic with each other, especially some of the ones like the Makoto/Yuzu friendship, it becomes great.
